The holidays are here and it’s time to experience all festivity that San Diego has planned! From ice skating to shopping to parades, there is merriment for everyone! Be sure to visit each event’s website for more details, ticket information and updated health measures.
Port of San Diego Parade of Lights – On both December 12 & 19, more than 80 private boats sparkle with decorations in the time honored annual Parade of Lights parade. You can view the boats from Shelter Island, Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, the pier at Cesar Chavez Park and Coronado’s Ferry Landing. Celebrating 50 years, 2021’s theme is the Twelve Days of Christmas.
Gaslamp Pet Parade. If boats aren’t your thing, the holiday Gaslamp Pet Parade in downtown San Diego features lovable, furry friends dressed in their best holiday garb on December 19. Judges will vote on ‘Best Pet Costume,’ ‘Best Costume Duo,’ ‘Cutest Critter’ and ‘Best in Show.’
Ice Skating. For those who like a little chill in the air, they can head to the Viejas Outlet Center Ice Rink, Rady Children’s Ice Rink at Liberty Station or the landmark Hotel del Coronado. All locations are open until the beginning of January. Dress…warmish…
Lights and Trees. To see some of the area’s most beautiful Christmas tree light displays, bundle up in the car and start your jolly journey. Don’t miss the spectacular presentations at Hotel del Coronado and its 21-foot tree or the Whoville-inspired white, pink and red Christmas tree displayed in front of the Globe at Copley Plaza. In Little Italy at the Piazza della Famiglia, a traditional 30-foot Christmas tree is the main centerpiece, and at Ocean Beach spectators can be amazed by a giant tree in the sand….Christmas – California style!
