A Very Special Social Distancing Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is the one day of the year we dedicate to that very special lady we call, or think of, as mom. A typical Mother’s Day consists of a special meal, pampering and a visit if she lives elsewhere. This year may be a little different, so we’ve come up with some ways to make mom feel just as special as ever!

A special breakfast – You can never go wrong with racing mom to the kitchen in the morning, preparing her favorites and serving them to her in bed or on your patio or back garden. Don’t forget her coffee or a special celebratory breakfast drink.

A family video call – If mom lives in another city, state or country, schedule a video call with her and let all your family members know near and far how to join. You could even make this a surprise conference!

Pampering – A day at the spa just might not have been in the cards this year, but you can certainly do some pampering at home. In the morning give her a basket of goodies like bath items, a candle, some magazines, sunscreen, a new book, etc. And then…leave her alone! Let her spend a few hours solo in her favorite chair, the bath or in her favorite lounge chair in the back yard.

Drive-by – If mom lives nearby, schedule a surprise drive-by to her home. You can sing, shout I love you from the car and even drop off flowers and a gift to her. You’ll all love seeing each other if even from a distance.

Unique experiences – Many local businesses are creating at-home experiences from high end take-out dining to winery hosted at-home wine-tastings. Some paint and sip style companies are offering at-home versions of their paintings complemented by live streaming to provide instruction.

Mom deserves the very best and this year does not have to be any different! Decorate your home with flowers from the garden, drawings and cut out hearts and pictures to make her feel loved and cared for on this very special day.
