San Diego Staycations

Sunny San Diego Staycation Suggestions

San Diego is a mecca of activities, adventures and attractions. In fact every year more than $35 million visitors come to San Diego! And how lucky for those of us who live in this spectacular location…all of San Diego’s fab fun is just minutes away. So if your spring break plans are still in the air, why not consider a staycation and see and do this Southern California gem at your own pace! Consider these experiences – some may be a revisit, and some may be new to you and your family!

Visit a world-class attraction: San Diego is home to so many fun theme parks and animal kingdoms. The San Diego Zoo is one of the most famous and beloved zoos in the world where you can spend a day seeing animals like giant pandas and polar bears. In Mission Bay, SeaWorld delights with aquamarine-centric education and entertainment, and further afield, is Legoland California Resort in Carlsbad and San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido.

Play ball! Go to a baseball game at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. One of the only two baseball teams to originate in California, the Padres have been a San Diego institution since 1969.

Set sail. There are lots of reasons to hit the sea during the spring. Since the gray whale migration takes place from December to May, you are more likely to spot one of these beautiful creatures on a whale-watching tour. Another option is to book a dinner cruise to catch a sensational sunset.

Get walking. From beachfront trails at Torrey Pines State Reserve to the canyons and waterfall views in Los Peñasquitos Canyon to an urban park loop in Balboa Park there is a trail for every level of experience and activity. Pack a lunch and turn it into a picnic as well.

Go Navy! Take a drive to San Diego’s harbor to visit the USS Midway Museum, one of the longest-serving aircraft carriers in US naval history and learn about the history of the USS Midway. With more than 30 restored aircraft and nearly 10 acres of exhibits and displays, you can tour the Midway from high up on the bridge to down in the main engine room.
