School’s Out – Let’s Celebrate!
The last day of school is an exciting time for kids as it marks the start of the most anticipated time of the year: summer break. After a long school year, kids deserve to celebrate and have fun – and so do their parents! Here are some fun activities you can do to celebrate the last day of school aka the first day of summer vacation!
Have an after-school picnic. Instead of enjoying their after-school snack in the house, pack a cooler with some of everyone’s favorite snack foods and take your children and their school friends to a local park for an afternoon picnic and play time to celebrate.
Go to the beach. Not everyone is as geographically lucky as SoCal residents, so take advantage of this little lifestyle highlight. After school is out, have the car ready to go with everyone’s favorite beach toys, sunscreen and snacks and head straight for the beach for a few hours.
Organize a parade. If your kids are able to ride their bikes or walk to school, celebrate their final return home by organizing a parade that starts at the school and ends at your home. The night before the last day of school, help your kids decorate their bikes for this celebratory procession!
Host a sleepover. Finally – there are no more ‘school nights!’ Let your kids have a sleepover with their friends and celebrate the end of the school year together. Play games, make ice cream and let them stay up as late as they can!
Play some games. A few days before the last day of school, send out invitations to your children’s school and neighbor friends to pop by after school with their favorite games. Prep for this fun time could be some tables and chairs outside and of course, snacks! Let friends go between all the game stations to play a variety of games.
