Four Places for Family Fun in San Diego
We are so lucky to live in Southern California – an area rife with beautiful locations and activities for the entire family, couples and even solo adventurers. Our location – so close to the ocean – gives us an extra dose of experiences many people don’t have. We’re happy to share with you some of these fabulous places you can visit nearly any day of the week and are close to your Cornerstone Communities home.
San Diego Botanic Gardens – A beautiful 37-acre urban retreat, San Diego Botanic garden features four miles of trails, beautiful vistas, flowering trees, palms, 5,000 species of plants and the nation’s largest bamboo collection. It also boasts the West Coast’s largest children’s garden.
San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum – Even though the Discovery Museum indoor exhibits are presently closed, there is plenty to do outside in the Discovery Garden. The garden offers a variety of nature-based science interactive activities and exhibits like the Water Wise Table, Nature Play and the Pollinator Garden to help children learn to appreciate their surroundings. Located in Escondido and founded in 1999, it provides activities for kids up to 10 years old.
Beaches – With more than 70 miles of coastline in San Diego, there is a beach for every taste from surfing to boogie boarding to kid friendly. Some of the best beaches for families are Coronado Central Beach, La Jolla Shores and Moonlight Beach. A full list is available here.
The Maritime Museum of San Diego – The Maritime Museum of San Diego, established in 1948, preserves one of the largest collections of historic sea vessels in the country. Located in San Diego Bay, the museum lets visitors walk around several ships and even a submarine. They offer 45-minute historic bay cruises and a swift boat tour as well.
