Why Staging Your Home is an Important Part of the Real Estate Process

If you’ve recently purchased a new Cornerstone Communities home, you may now have to take on the task of selling the home you currently live in. And since you’re likely very excited to move into one of our beautiful neighborhoods, you’re going to want to sell it fast! This is the first of two blogs dedicated to staging your home. This one will concentrate on why to undertake this task.

Buyers can “see themselves” in your home. Removing key personal items, like photos and your kids’ artwork, lets those wandering through your halls and rooms visualize their own pictures and personal touches, in effect, visualizing themselves there.

It will look better in photos. Much of the marketing of your home is captured by professional photographs that will be seen online and in printed materials, and this may be the first look many have at your house. Make a great first impression!

It can highlight new possibilities. If you transfer your catch-all room into a temporary home office, it may give a home seeker a good idea of what can be used with that space other than storage.

It may sell faster and for a higher price. If there is a home similar to your home on the market, your staged home compared to their non-staged home, will give off a much better impression. And this impression can result in a better and quicker offer than for the one that appears not quite ready.

A beautiful inside could “hide” a not-so-great outside. If your home is located in an area that may not be the most desirable neighborhood or location, a well-staged interior may just make the homebuyer forget all about the parking lot or building site behind your house!

Next time…what to focus on when staging your home to sell.
