One of San Diego’s most prolific builders, Cornerstone Communities, has been recognized as “Builder of the Year” by the Building Industry Association of San Diego.
During the 5th Annual ICON Awards ceremony last Saturday evening, Cornerstone Communities was celebrated and given the top honor of the night: Builder of the Year. This distinctive award publicly recognizes Cornerstone Communities’ enduring commitment to excellence as a top San Diego homebuilder for over 20 years.
Just this summer Cornerstone broke ground on its latest and much-anticipated new masterplan of Vista del Sur in South San Diego. This exciting new development of three communities with a combined 413 homes will be a welcome addition to a rapidly developing and growing area of the County.
Vista del Sur is only part of the story – 2014 has been a very busy year for Cornerstone Communities. The company has four communities currently under construction totaling 881 units and has an additional eight communities, representing 1,273 units, at various stages of the planning process. With grand total of 2,154 units currently under construction or in planning, Cornerstone Communities is the largest private homebuilder in San Diego County.
Ure Kretowicz, the chairman and CEO of Cornerstone Communities, who proudly accepted the award Saturday evening, has said he particularly loves building in San Diego County, despite many of his friends in the industry having fled the area for easier places to build. San Diego is at the epicenter of military, high-tech and biotechnology industries, “and it looks like it’s going to be strong through at least 2018,” says Kretowicz.
