AMENITIES

The amenities of Vista del Sur combined with the recreational opportunities of the adjacent Pacific Gateway Park offer Vista del Sur residents endless options for retreating, entertaining, exercising and spending time outdoors.

Formerly known as the “Pits,” this area was a haven for off-road vehicles and bon fires. In 1957, the area was annexed from San Diego County along with other portions of South San Diego. However, development did not begin until 1998, making this area one of District 8’s newest.

Today this southern section of San Diego is primarily a residential area bordered by freeways. Located east of I-805 and north of California State Route 905, the highways provide easy access to major shopping centers, schools, and parks. Ocean View Hills is home to a major commercial center and San Ysidro School District’s only K-8 school. The area also provides a nice view of Mexico.

Less than two miles from Vista del Sur, fun for all ages can be found at the nearby water park in Chula Vista with its exciting water slides and relaxing lazy river and pools. Adjacent to the Aquatica Water Park is the iconic 20,500 seat North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre. It is one of the larger concert venues in the San Diego area and San Diego County’s largest outdoor concert venue. Artists who have performed at the sprawling, 70-acre venue over the years range from Elton John, Kendrick Lamar and the Spice Girls to B.B. King, Radiohead, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

For outdoor enthusiasts, San Diego cultural feature Pacific Gateway Park is adjacent to Vista del Sur. With an elevation of 489 feet it provides views of Mexico and to nearby Finger and Dillon Canyons. A great place to hike, explore, and have a day’s adventure.

Other nearby amenities include Brown Field Municipal Airport – serving private, corporate, charter, air ambulance, law enforcement, fire rescue, flight training, cargo, skydiving, banner towing, and airships; and Brown Field Technology Park, which is currently under construction, and slated for 3.2 million square feet of office space.
